Cheshire Officers Reunited With Man They Helped Save After Cardiac Arrest

Three Cheshire officers used CPR and a defibrillator during a cardiac arrest and later met the man whose life they helped save.

Sergeant Darren Cabaniuk and PCs Chris Fry and Ben Green responded to a cardiac-arrest emergency in Ellesmere Port. Cheshire Constabulary says the officers arrived quickly, began CPR and used a defibrillator before ambulance crews took over.

The officers continued working with paramedics and later helped the man’s wife get to hospital. The patient, Paul Lennon, survived and subsequently asked to meet the officers who had responded.

That meeting took place in May 2026. The force said the rapid response and coordinated emergency treatment were pivotal in helping to save his life.

Police officers are not a replacement for ambulance clinicians, but first-response skills and access to defibrillators can be crucial in the minutes before specialist medical care arrives.
